About a year ago my gas gauge on my 69 stopped working. It only reads full. You will never guess how I found that out? Yup. I assumed it was a bad ground which I am told makes the gauge needle stay on full. However I have noticed an interesting thing. I filled the car for winter storage. When I took it out this spring the gauge started working again! Not shocking. A ground could come and go. However when I filled the tank it stopped working again. So I filled it and it sat for a couple weeks. Guess what? It worked again. My theory. Not a bad ground but the float is sticking in the up position. Next question. Short of replacing things when the time comes any super bright ideas? My thought was not filling the tank all the way next time it works so it wont stick at the top. Short of that I'm probably out of luck.
