I thought the Rally II wheels on my 69 were 15" firebird wheels. The trim rings fit but don't seat on the center of the wheel. There's about a quarter inch space when the trim rings are properly in place. I got repro trim rings and they seat on the wheel center but they have about a quarter inch gap to the edge of the rim. The old ones are 2 1/4" from the bottom to the outer lip. The reports are 2 3/4" from the bottom to the outer lip. I really don't care about being authentic as there are other minor modifications to the car. I just would like to get trim rings that are undamaged and will fit. Any thoughts? Thanks
Well, I studied what I'm dealing with and I never noticed before but apparently the backspacing on my front and rear wheels is different. The fronts show almost 1/2" between the 2 1/4" trim rings and the wheel centers while there is no space between the trim ring and wheel center on the rears. Is this typical? If the backspacing is different should I swap the wheels that are on the front for those on the rear? Still would appreciated hate some input. Doug
