I wanted to provide some information to people who may be looking to buy a Firebird or GTO. Please be very wary and check your vin and engine numbers, there are MANY fakes out there.
Cases in point, 1- My 67 Firebird, I was into GTO's when I got her and researched them, found that in 1967 they only produced 6 RA convertibles and NONE EXIST, NONE, but Hagerty and others list them with a value, get a hold of PHS or others before plunking down any cash. That's why I did a tribute, NONE exist.
2- Recently I ran into a 70 GTO, wants 30k, the vin reveals it's a LeMans Sport, someone put a GTO nose on it and painted Judge red with Judge decals, he said the registration says GTO, doesn't matter the state goofed. HE also could not provide me with any engine or head numbers and I sent him a detailed link of what to look for so I think it's a 350 with a 400 decal on the air cleaner.
3- I saw a guy at a show with 67 bird with tri power and tri power badges on the fender, he thought it was real, I didn't have the heart to tell him.
4 Another guy at a diferent show had plunked down big bucks for a 67 ht with a 68 nose, the car still has value but not what a pure 67 would.

..makes me think of Jeremy trying to sell his brown '69 350 car as an 'ultra rare' '70 'test' car....
Remember that guy? Haven't heard from him in about a year. Probably time for his car to pop up for sale again soon.
I have some swamp land for sale in Florida if anyone is interested.

unfortunatley or fortunately the people with money and zero knowledge tend to jack up car prices, I guess I would value my 67 as a 67 400 convertible, but in the price guides they list RAM AIR with a huge price, I even emailed Hemmings and asked that they put a disclaimer that said ( only 6 made, none exist), no reply.
Ask and you shall receive..he changed his story and dropped the price from $100k, to $50k, now scamming ya for only $18k.....https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/1969-pontiac-firebid-ta/6612561545.html. He had it on ebay a month or 2 ago.
Are you sure that's the same car? I thought it was brown and half taken apart.

Same car, it was always orange with the black accent striped on the hood scoops and sides. He's claiming to have this car: https://www.google.com/search?q=69+firebird+test+car&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjskM-1_pLcAhWNFXwKHadxBcYQ_AUICigB&biw=1920&bih=904&dpr=1#imgrc=FWecFHfqpZJaCM:&spf=1531172602318
I'm seeing a lot of fraud on GTO's, a lot, especially Judges.

Definitely an extra zero on the end of that price.
