My motor build 1968 Firebird 400 HO motor is nearly done. I don’t want to waste the money spent by putting wrong paint on it. Who knows the correct blue for this. Hirsch metallic blue? Help please

IMO, Hirsch metallic blue is the standard for color match.

Isn’t the intake manifold also to be painted blue? Or did you paint it a natural color for contrast and personal taste. My engine builder says it is suppose to be blue. If that is wrong I have time to change. I am Planing as long as I am buying new long branch manifolds to have them finished in chrome unless that sounds too bling. Not much else under there dressing it up

Yes, intake should also be blue. Hirsch is the correct color. Duplicolor also sells the correct color in cans.
It might be the lighting, but the blue in Harold's picture looks a bit too light blue.
I would not recommend chrome LBM's, but if your taste....
Ceramic coating on my LBMs lasted about six years. Others have had rust in a year or two. Not sure about powder coating, that may be the way to go.

Here is the info regarding the option on the manifolds from ram air productions
I didn’t really mean chromed as I meant this silver finish they advertise as a chrome looking finish

Yes, the ceramic coating is what I went with. Bought them about 8-10 years back, have had them on my car about 5-6 years. Rust just starting to poke through this year. Others had rust in a year or two.
Powder coating may last longer, not sure.
If you do nothing, you get a rusty mess in a year or two. (just like the originals)
I think their (darker) grey looks better than the silver, but that is just my opinion.

On a side note, RARE "usually" has a Christmas special with 'free' ceramic coating. Or at least that's when I bought mine.

Yes it is suppose to be blue. I did not show the picture as correct. Just the color of the kbs coating's blue they offer. Even though it is not as pretty as bill Hirsch it is way more durable and that will be what I use next time. It is close enough for me. It looks a lot better the burned off paint.
