I will be asking 6 million questions over the course of my car build, but I was wondering if this shifter I have is worth rebuilding or if I can even get parts for it.
Upon taking it apart, we found the ball bearings were not in good shape. The sleeve on the inside wasn’t either... is this factory or homemade?
I’ve never seen an original 67 4 speed shifter. Supposedly they were junk and most were replaced with hursts. The originals bolted to the cross member not the transmission. My car came with an older aftermarket hurst shifter that is rock solid. Much better than the factory hurst on my 69 goat
We have a '67 with original 4 speed. In a non-racing application there is nothing wrong with these shifters. When we restored our bird I think we sent the shifter out for a rebuild. I do not remember doing it ourselves. The original "build" lasted as a daily driver for over 30 years with occasional light to light action and a couple trips down the track. I expect the rebuild of it will last as long as the car... Cal
