I've been trying to do something little everyday on the birds since I have time on my hands for a while. I'm even getting brave and have taken apart a few thing I never messed with before. For instance: last night I pulled a door panel off for the first time ever, yup, thats right I.ve never had a door apart before. I just started out wanting to replace the broken crank handle, ended up pulling the whole thing apart. I had looked down into the door through the glass opening slot where the fuzzies are mostly missing and I could see something down in there, a Printed item. I thought "build sheet" since we have yet to find it. Now were on a mission. I was amazed after removing(with not too much difficulties) that there was a brown paper membrain glued over the whole door under the door panel. Is this original from the factory? or was this from someone working on the car? it wasn't me. we'll we will put it back together today, I now know I can take that apart easily. I will rebuild the whole door in the future as I can see many of the parts in side are heavily worn ,especially the bumper guides on each side of the glass. What did I find in the door that was printed? I ended up finding a empty package that had contained an archery shooters glove that I used to use back in the 80"s. I have no idea how something like that would find its way down into the door,LOL, No build sheet this time .

I got real brave and took the whole door (drivers)off since we knew the top hinge was bad, changed out the hinges, re-installed door ,put it all back together and took her for a ride.
never had a door off a car before, marked it real good and got it back to its spot first try, Whewwwww!!!
Found out this door is in pretty good shape, we now know this is the door. Can get rid of the spare door now.

I noticed the last post to this thread was 2 weeks after my birthday last year. and it was 13 days after I was let go from my jod(yes,on my birthday) which was the day after we buried my step-mother. I told you it was a hell of a year or a year from hell.
I did do atleast a few things to the car last year but, simple cheap items. I did paint the carpet, I had nothing to loose on this one. I bought carpet and upholstery paint and sprayed away, wow was i suprised. Looks much nicer until we replace it someday. I replaced the drivers seat with and all original spare that I bought the year before. I removed the supertuner from under the dash and just left the original radio to stand out. and cleaned her up as nice as we could. In June I meet up with Slik67 and we drove up to the Pypes show, love seeing all those Pontiacs and firebirds there. Lots of people enjoyed Mary's car since it is so much of a survivor. I had hung a drop light from the inside of the hood and put a few tools on the fender cover, heck you have to dress up the ugly duckling somehow. I will dig up some pics and post them.
Not sure what the plans are for this year yet, but I ready togo!
