A couple minor points; I believe the 7028268 was a Quadrajet for larger 400/428 HO Pontiacs. The '68 Firebirds with a 400HO and TH400 got the same carb as the 400's, a 7028264. see: Carb AMA Specs By "Windslow Blue" did you mean the special color windward blue? See: Special Colors
A proper 400HO car would not have HO stripes on it...

Jimc2002, I value your help and input. I Have 7028264 Carb Also, yet my research shows the XXXXX68 Carb for this application. Please supply more information to help me be Proper to represent this correctly. thx.. Rob
wovenweb, I do have PHS documentation showing this car was furnished with this stripe option. I looked it over and went by it to inform others what it shows. Knowing there are unusual Factory -dealer events not clear in options, I believe what I have is correct this car did come these stripes from factory. My typo color needs to be corrected too.. Windslow Blue , I meant windward blue.. My humanity to err is telling!!!
I believe your 7028268 is from a '68 400/400HO GTO with AT.
I had remembered the 7028264 from my years of looking for one at swap meets. Never dreaming I would still own the car decades later, in the mid- 70's I had my original replaced as a quick fix for a problem I had with it. I now have a 7028264 but have not put it on my car yet.
The board has been through this a few times so please pardon me if I seem short tempered regarding this. Yes, a 400 HO could come with rally stripes and somewhere around here the car/stripe color combinations are listed. The consensus, held for a decade/ two or more, is that a 400 HO would not come with HO stripes. Those were available on the 350 HO optioned vehicles only. There are differences between the rally stipes (no embeded H.O. in them) and the H.O. stripes. The rally stripe was available on all vehicles, the H.O. stripe was available on 350 HO only. A dealer could have certainly installed something different, but as you know, the PHS would not document that.
Here is the discussion from when this board was stil in listserv format.
If you have evidence to the contray, that would be great new information for the board!

I will always try be first in the line to get what it correct information on things. To misrepresent to anyone such as this is embarrassing! In my exploring I have seen so much information on the first generation of Firebirds, I wondered at points what really was 10% correct. This data you provided I believe is most correct, as the car came with Upon my Purchase, a Rochester "mid section" XXXXXXX64 that is currently unusable. Yet I have acquired a good XXXXX64 Full carburetor since, along with several xxxxxxx68 full carburetors. This is my saving grace here I believe, having this components on this matter. Your information and sources are very Valuable to me and I appreciate it much. This is a golden moment that makes us all have trust and integrity!!! Very appreciated! Rob
I have a Dealers sales manual and will lookout over again to see what I can find that shows what was dealer sales available on this. Again, I might be in the whirlwind of Rhetoric on this one subject (stories) , so I need to anchor down things from my 1968 dealer sales manual, and what was actually available. I cannot figure how to send you a PHS document of my car and wanted to, so you can maybe shed some light on things for my need to realize possibly. Thx, Rob
