I hate to remove so much factory steel from my 67 but the lower rear quarter is soft, in front of the wheel and front of wheel and a little on top too and the icing on the cake the rear window trough is riddled with hole so I'm considering just yanking the whole thing off. I'm concerned with the door jamb area since in the past I have heard some replacement quarters on some cars had jamb issues ? brand Opinions ? I'm in the Cleveland area would drive to get one and save the in$ane $hipping and likely damage.
I haven't done anything yet.....I was looking for input from someone who HAS replaced quarters. I do however have a another car that the quarter were removed.

I think I would remove the back window to see what kind of condition the window flange is in, it defiantly needs to be taken into consideration. If it is all rusted out a full 1/4 would save a lot of work in that area for sure.
As far as body panels, check out Summit they are right down the road from you, they also offer free shipping over a certain dollar amount purchased if you don't feel like driving.
didn't come with a rear window so i knew what I was getting (blue car is for misc parts but I'll probably buy a new rear window) .....after seein your project I'm glad i opted for a zero rust floor and zero rust trunk !! I sent my brother to view them for me and said I would rather stand and work then be bending over working on the floors so i'm happy with my window area (exactly like yours) Sucks AMD had a quarter sale but shipping ruins the sale ....summit is close enough to run and get big stuff when I pull the trigger.

Pics after I decided to fab a rotisserie to make things a lot easier, LOL
You have lots of space .....I'd have twice as many cars with that kind of room ....I "think" I have 12 ? Nice work, "A" arms look factory new (and right)
I replaced my 69 convertible drivers quarter. I think you'll find it easier to replace the whole piece rather than sections. AMD doesn't make Firebird quarters to my knowledge, but they do carry them made by someone else. I think they add a "X" to the part number to indicate this.
I bought my quarter from The parts place (in Chicago area). The fit was pretty good, but all quarters will need adjustments. In my case the quarter section that fit over the tail panel where the three spot welds are and the trunk bumper is was too short, so I had to add material there for better fitment.
There will be some areas you wished you had a spot welder for to properly weld the panels, for example at the tail panel, where it meets the quarter. I ended up buying a nice spot welder with a number of different copper rod assembly's for specific areas like the wheel well, or where my convertible quarter met the back window. If money is no object, I would highly recommend the investment there. That way you are not grinding a ton of plug welds which is a lot of time, and won't give you the correct look.
I also had to correct the quarter radius at the tail panel, as they were different and the gap was larger. I ended up cutting the edge and re-welding back together. Lastly I ended up cutting the quarter along the trunk gap line to properly match the other quarter which did not need replacing.
If you can put the car on a rotisserie, that is your best bet for access to different areas unless you are very flexible like a gymnast, lol.
I've attached a couple of photos just as an example, but again my total investment for the spot welder with the different arms (3 additional sets including a long 19" arm to get around the tail panel with spot welds) was about $1000 bucks, and well worth it. It also had a feature to pulse burn thru the e-coating, and I could set different temperatures depending on the thickness of what you are spot welding.
I don't get on here as often as I'd like but I can post more pictures if needed. I'm past the metal work and now getting to assembly & paint eventually.
Here is another photo of after I finished the quarter. Another thing about the aftermarket quarter is the gap between the quarter and trunk may be a bit larger than your liking (or not). In my case I've added 1/8" to each side of my trunk so that I can grind down and have a nice tighter gap than previous (factory gap may be larger, but I like the tightened up gap looks in my opinion)

Nice paint! Sorry, I forgot to get back to you about those panels. I would be interested in the very top piece of both qtr's (the full width is about 6", then another 2-6 inches of the side from door edge to the end of the quarter at the back. I need to mold the top of my quarter better. Last guy did not do full qtr and job not perfect like I want it.
Would have something like that?
