We are now getting our car completed and have this one part from the engine that we can not figure out. The engine is a 1968 350 HO. There is a rubberized piece on the end.Can anyone please ID this part and where it goes..??.
Note: There is a Dealer Service Information Bulletin 68-I-56 – Exhaust Manifold Heat Riser Valve Eliminated – 1968 V-8 Engines
So, I don't know how that whole system should be handled. Hopefully, someone else will chime in. I know that I have had that disconnected with my longbranch manifolds for many years.
Just a follow up. The exhaust manifold heat riser value was not in good shape and the coil spring has long corroded away. Seems that this value could hinder the exhaust flow like this. Therefore, we have removed this whole system and plugged the two holes. We won't even install the bracket mentioned above to the oil filter bracket.
