Any one have any experience with this kit? I think all my springs, shocks, and bushings are pretty worn out. I like the idea behind this kit - upgraded bolt on components all the way around without going all the way to a full coil over and/or 4 link setup. My mechanic says he's installed a few with good success.
Looks like reboxed stuff that everyone else sells for less than 1/2 that. Good quality moog is only like $65 a ball joint and $110 front coil springs. Landrum makes good parabolic mono leafs at various spring rates from 100 lbs and up for $220 pair. Bushings are like $10 each How much is a sway bar? Buyer beware
No first hand experience, have Hotchkis leaf springs on my car. I saw this kit last weekend at NSRA show in Louisville. I was intrigued by the composite leaf springs. I was amazed by how light they are. Heard good things about RT shocks. Even their entry level shocks are pretty pricey. Kit did seem expensive for what it is but is high quality stuff. My buddy was talking to them about the coil overs on his car. RT crew was very helpful explaining how to troubleshoot his issue (non RT components) rather than pushing their parts to solve the problem. Seemed like a very knowledgeable group. Define what you want the car to be then research the different manufacturers. Pick up the phone and talk with them.
I currently run Hotchkis springs and their new shocks. The ride is very firm. No issues on a smooth road but you don't find many here in the midwest and I drive mostly on the street. Hitting bumps make for a bit of a harsh ride. That said I have been looking at some of the RideTech stuff myself.
I stopped at the Ridetech booth at Goodguys. I'm a little torn on the composite springs. I don't know how they would hold up behind my 455. I don't have any wheel hop now and I'm concerned with leaf spring wrap and possible breakage. I know when the composite leafs came out years ago some were breaking them.
Other then that I like the idea of the dual rate front spring. I like the delrin bushing they offer. I don't know anyone else selling the bushing package like stock.. The RideTech shock they sell are from the same manufacture FOX, as my Hotchkis 1.5 shocks and they are nice.
I would advise to just stick to one manufacture and go with it. You may want to check on the 1stGen Camaro site for more info on this. I personally like the sales pitch and the target audience of the street Grip system.
Here's the stance after I dropped down a tire size in the front. 215-60-15. Rides like a new car and zero rubbing. I couldn't be happier. And Rohrt, yes, I bought the whole kit.
Thank you. Those are regular Cragar SS wheels. 15x7 front and 15x8 rear. I think the front is 4inch bs and rear is 4.25bs. 215 60 15 in front and 245 60 15 in rear.
I haven't decided if I love the rears yet. Seems a little big maybe to me.
Hi tbtx2010, I saw your post. I've been searching all night for someone that actually installed a Streetgrip system from Ride Tech. I recently bought a 69 Firebird 400. It's an original with only 56K miles. This kit looked like the answer I was looking for. I've been hesitant to pull the trigger and buy the kit. I want to keep the car looking stock but improve the driving feel. Are you still happy with it? I see your in Az, so am I. Are you in the Phoenix area?
