This is more of an informational post than anything else. The short story is that I was restoring the headlight bucket assemblies on my 1969 and I had previously obtained 3 NOS of the needed 8 adjustment screws. So, I ordered 5 more from Ames as they had some listed as GM. When I received them, they were markedly different and stamped "China". After calling them, I found out that they ran out of GM ones so sent Repros instead. They credited back my account and things are fine with them. So, this is not a post bashing Ames. I recently found 5 more NOS ones and have completed things. But I do have pictures and descriptions of the differences for those interested in the link in my signature. An example:
The bottom line is that the NOS parts installed and worked much better. I guess that it is not a complete surprise. The reproductions will function okay but they are not as nice. Just an FYI in what you getting.
Now i'm glad i bought my NOS ones back in 97' after the hit and run.I have yet to install them and I just had a look at them recently and was wondering the same thing about the repop quality.

37 years of manufacturing and materials technology advances and the repros are inferior. When are the vendors and repro manufacturers going to get the message that we want quality parts?
