Aug 10,11,12 Norwalk, Ohio Ive never been before. My first year. Wasn't sure if I was going to race or show. Think im going to show. Less to do . Sit around and drink beer. Anyone else????????????
The wife and I are planning on this show as well. We got our Bird back this past Friday from the painter, had some problem areas touched up etc. Now he is going to do the entire car at the end of August. We get our motor back this Friday and hopefully get her all back together and running so we can make this show. We are also in the midst of relocating to FL so that could throw a monkey wrench in the plans...
The pontiac Nationals at Norwalk is great. You will enjoy it. It is well organized. Real nice facilities. It is well worth the trip. Too bad I don't have my Pontiac anymore. The only draw back is the cost of rooms and the availability. It is close to cedar point that is why the cost are high . So you better make reservation early. I won't be doing any burn outs either the State Patrol watches the area for such things.
Our Bird heads to the painter this Friday. Will have it back in time to put her back together and make the nationals. Should be a great time! Can't wait...
If accommodations are the problem, there is the possibility of camping on site. You can camp out in the pits if you are racing or in the wooded corner of the property if you are a swap meet vendor, but I believe you need to reserve space. I have done both in the past, but I would check with the organizers since it has been a few years. It is primitive camping, but there are bathrooms with showers under the grandstands.

I made resevations yesterday. The main hotel is fully sold out. I found a Holiday Inn Express 18 miles from the show and booked a room. The rate was $135.00/night. All in all I didn't think that was too bad and not too far away. Luckily I had enough points from my paltinum priority club membership to cover the stay...
Guess we are staying at a mon and pop 2 miles away. 60 bucks a nite. Will leave early thurs mornin. Now thats what im talking about. SeeeYa there. Bill

No thanks buddy, I'll take the house in DeBary and live the country life... LOL
As for the Pontiac Nationals, are these cars of concourse caliber? I'm just wondering if I will look stupid bringing my daily driver. What do you guys think???
Well, there are about 10 FGF here. I'm not sure if anyone from this site is here or not. Anytime I go bye the cars the owners are usually not around. Anyway, we are having a great time. Had dinner under the the Ames tent and they drew the color blue, anyone with a blue dinner ticket received their $40 entry fee refunded. That was nice as we did have a blue ticket. We also won a VIP pass for the new 9th floor suite all day Sunday for the races. I'm not much on watching the drags, I'd rather look at the show cars.
I also did find a steel ram air pan, steel air filter lid, new air filter & breather, with new foam seals, all for $240. Then I sold my fibergalss ones within the hour and recouped $150. Not too bad. I also found a couple of misc. motor brackets that I needed and I found them both on a guys table less than 30' from our car. So far, so good!
Great, stop by, I have the only Silver FGF there so I should be easy to find. My name is Joe and I am with my wife Tammy and Son Jeffrey. I rented a golf cart for the w/e so we spend a lot of time zipping around. First time I've ever rented one at a car show, [censored], now that is the way to go! My wife has Juvinile Rheumatoid Arthritis that was the reason for the cart, however, I must admitt, kinda nice to have!
Had a good time lots to see. Came back Sunday morn. Had enough of playing with the car for 3 days. I wanna go back to work. What Awsome Complex Norwalk is>
Well, never did run into anyone from this site (not that I know of anyway). We had a great time and made a few new friends too boot. There were about 30-40 FGF in all over the two days.
We were parked to a very nice 67 all w/e and we were in the same class. We took 3rd place much to my surprize. I told my wife just being there after 7 years of trying to get there was enough for me. I will say it was definately an honor taking 3rd place. Especially when you consider several cars were brought in on enclosed trailers, had nice custom made covers etc. and here we were trailering our daily driver in on an open trailer and we don't even own a car cover. LOL
Well, the fresh paint & new motor must have done the trick and we are happy to have made it there and back safe and sound. I will say this, Steve Ames is one hell of a guy and what a great crew he has. With all the good food and giveaways etc. I don't see how anyone could complain.
I will say one thing, the folks from Ames are not there to bargain with ya! The price is the price. Trust me, I tried. I really watned to buy the pair of grills they had there but just didn't want to spend the money right now with us moving and buying a house etc. Anyway, they wouldn't budge on the price and they only had the one pair there. Oh well, they are on my list for the next Ames order.
Bottom line, I would highly recommend this show to anyone who loves Pontiacs! I'm not sure that they get any better than this!
Oh, one of the things I was looking to buy, and much too my surprize no one was there selling. I wanted a Delco R59. I thought for sure one of the vendors would have them, but none of them did.
I was there, but with so many people, it would be difficult to hook up.
As it is every year, it was a great show with lots of fun races. I saw one guy who I swear almost completely flipped his car doing a wheelie. I am sure he did some damage to his car. Even the announcer was truly impressed.

What a blast! Did'nt run into anyone here either, but i was RACING for the 1st time in about 20 yrs. Made it to 3rd round Saturday(broke out). 6th or 7th rnd Sunday. About 13-14 runs including T&T. They put me in the Pro Mod class(9-10-11 sec. cars)cause i had E-heads and n2o even though i wasnt gon'a use it. These guys bracket race all season. Seemed like there was about 100 of them. Told the tech inspector it was a 12.5 car. Only saw 2 others in my class. Best i could get out of her was 12.31 @ 112.74 or 113.74 mph. Placed 17th Sunday. Started losing a cylinder during the round robin runs(no piting). My daughter changed the # to the last run made while i was waiting for the next run. Still made 2 more before i got put into the wrong lane. Couldnt get out and up there in time. The line official apologized several times. Told him thats ok cause the car was hurt, and i was really dehydrated. Probly saved me and the car big time. It was so hot during the rnd robin sweat was run'n down my arms and dripping off my elbows. Had a break out Sunday, but the other guy broke out worse trying to catch me. He never had a chance cause i had a .097 to his .122. That was great! Tree'd 2 guys both Saturday and Sunday. Couple left to soon. I dont have to worry bout that. Best reaction time was .091 Other guys were averaging .020-.050 The shut down lane is 1/2 mile, so i ran'r out the back door on Friday's test-n-tune a couple times. 145 mph @ 6500 rpm's and still climbing before i let up. Still had alot more left. Time for more gear!
