I just got my '67 convertible last Friday and the only speaker in the car is the one located in the dash in the center. Looking on thoughts and/or recommendations for adding speakers.
IF you are running the original radio, it will only support a single front speaker and a single rear speaker. (or two very small kick panel speakers)
If radio and speakers are new, you may be able to place small ones in the kick panels. Size is limited by the body frame in that area. If you are a purist, this was an option back in the day.
If you don't care about originality, you can chop up the door panels, rear side panels, back seat frame, or put some huge box speakers sitting in the back seat.
The 'stock' optional rear speaker for convertibles is about 99.5% useless with the top down. But that was actually an option back then.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I've seen replacements for the dash speaker that come with two channel capacity (stereo) that look pretty cool. That with a couple 6x9s in the package tray might work well. Unless you want a real huge sound beyond just listening. :

No real package tray in a convertible. Back seat / trunk divider is all you get. Gotta have somewhere for that top to disappear into.

I put some outdoor speakers on the back seat with plug connections. They sound pretty good and put out some good volume (with my aftermarket radio). For shows, I unplug them and stick them in the trunk.
I figured I was pretty limited, don't want to chop the doors and like it was mentioned the kick panels size is limited. The car came with a aftermarket Sony Radio, not impressed with it so far, so it will probably get changed out at some point. For now I am going to enjoy the top down in our AZ weather in the mid to upper 80's
I had mine in foot well, both sides of front seats qtr ...and the middle front dash...no rear speaker as it was a vert......mine looked kind of what they did back in the day...about 6 inch round cut in to kick panels...
