I think there are , but not sure of a first gen bird club... but email me direct and I`ll get you email addresses to a couple of bird owners around DFW...
I just got a mail from Henry Guererro, he wanted me to let you know he`s interested , he`s in FtW..I sent him a list of 7 other bird owners in DFW area, so if you get w him or me you can have that list too!
already saw some 'action'; between all you guys! great!
and after awhile (maybe 6 mo or a yr from now), when you guys get a little more organized, we could have a "central Texas" = DFW people /Half group meet somewhere, maybe along I35 or I45

rob , im east of dallas, in forney. i've also been looking for others and a club with fgf in mind. if you get something together i would like to tag along.
my bird currently has a broken wing (motor) but should be back on the road for my 20th high school reunion this june for north mesquite 1985.
well, there`s nothing wrong with the huge metropolis Nacogdoches lol or Palestine or Crockett or any of those east Texas woodsy towns or Lufkin?,Athens, Longview, Tyler...etc
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"> ...and one is coming from Killeen...! </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yep, Kevin wins the award for longest distance traveled for HALF meet, about 280.....one-way!
I just looked to see "about" how many miles it would be for me to drive the bird down that way one of htese days and it's about 2,700 miles... one way!
I would have done it if it were closer to 2,500 miles one way! Lol... but 2,700... Yikes! Lol... Oh well it was a fun idea while it lasted... Glad you guys had a good time over the week-end! Nice going Kel! you da man!
Tell ya what Brett, save your pennies, find the time, fly on down and join us. I need someone to drive my car while I'm filming! Boy we could have used you on this trip. After filling up on bar-b-q and cruisin, we all sat around the fire with some Shiners, and as Miles said earlier, engaged in some "edgy conversation", you would have fit right that night!
Kelly , thanks man , had a great time....and after those Shiners ,had a great sleep on your sleeper couch! havent calc`ed my mileage yet, but should probably be over 500 total for the weekend , including you cruise! the "fire yakking/talk" was great entertainment! and did ya notice , no pics from that time...too busy /too entertained to take pics!
NO, Bjorn, wasn't too busy to do any filming, just didn't want any evidence left behind that could come back and haunt anyone....what's said here, stays here!
Looks like everyone had a great time, so there are grounds enough there for another Corpus trip next year??
...speaking of Shiner's, guess we can try to start putting together the next Shiner Cruise when we are at Lee's?...Maybe some of you Dallas guys can make it, see what a 'bird rally is like??
so is there a FGF group for Dallas yet? I am fixing to get my bird home first of or middle of december it is currently at my brother's house/shop in midland texas.

look him up on "newest Members" on the right upper corner...PM him from that
I'm in Arlington and have seen a few Firebirds over the years but no groups that I know of. There is a 68 about a block and a half away from my house that I had gone over to about 3 times to talk "cars" but they will never answer the door!!!!!!!! I did meet one guy in Roanoke from here once.
"Yet" I like that optimism dude! We should start one, if not just for a gtg. When I can keep mine off of jackstands I've enjoyed finally showing mine off after spending ALOT of time and money on it. I see other FGF's occasionally and try to talk to the owner when possible. I'm about as far away from plano as anywhere in the metroplex though. You should also look up "DAPA" as alot of members are in the suburbs around you.
DAPA Dallas Area Pontiac Association is a great organization (or at least was 4 years ago when I lived in Dallas). Floyd Hand (Jim Hand's brother) is a member, and Floyd often visited with great info, along with the guys from Ram Air Restorations. There is an unbelievable wealth of knowledge with those guys and they are always willing to lend a hand and part. They are based mainly in Richardson/Plano area and used to hold their meetings down at the the BBQ place off of 75 in Richardson just North of Smokey Bones on the Northbound side.
They used to have an annual show and Drag where Jim Butler, RARE, Jim Hand, and many other Pontiac organizations would come out. The Show was on Saturday in Richardson off of 75, and the Drag was South (can't remember the name of the track) on Sunday.
If this weather would just cooperate. All time record breaking 12.5" of snow last week just isn't right, not around here anyway... it's that global warming.
start your own "group" a la HALF (Houston Area Legendary Firebirds) a 'no club' club ,no dues, no pres/ secr etc, no set meetings, no rules...but we meet quite often ,have lots of fun , have cruises, monster garages etc
I have a 67 vert too, work in plano and live north of 380 near Denton. Always willing to meet fellow first gener's
Sorry it has taken so long to reply...my car is still being worked on. It's in Jackson MS getting interior installed. Once it arrives I'm doing suspension work, getting Air Ride installed. I think we then I'm moving to McKinney. We should start a club. I can be reached via email ghorace@ghnetwork.net
try to get hold of Chris Blandino too, he`s on the L list...email cabland@verizon.net you also have Dan Dominick, I think Chris has his contact , both NW of Dallas
Tony (tr709) and I went to the American Performance & Classic Car Show in Dallas this past weekend and there were about 60 cars in attendance and 7 of them were fgf's!! I totally brain farted and didn't think to get a group picture. In our defense we both had our families there and were preoccupied with them but I won't make that mistake to not get that pic given the opportunity again. I know of one other fgf that was commited to a show at the state fair otherwise he would have been there as well.
Yes we need to get a group thing going here in the metroplex! I like the HALF model Bjorn suggested, it sounds simple.
How about: MAFF, Metroplex Area Firstgen Firebirds or MALF Metroplex Area Legendary Firebirds or DFWFGF Dallas Ft Worth First Generation Firebirds or DALF Dallas Area Legendary Firbirds
I can be reached at: "sbcglobal_stinks@yahoo.com" Danny Gomez
Cool, thanks for bringing this thread back up Robbie! Well I managed to keep in touch with two other firstgen guys in the metroplex, not a lot but still noteworthy. I think its way past time that a few of us were in the same place at the same time, lol. We’ve tried to get together at a couple of shows but others (knock on wood) have had mechanical setbacks. Let me throw this out there. Another friend with a late model GP GTP (supercharged) has been wanting to come in from out of town and hang out at car show and we have a tentative date of Oct 22 as there is a POCI gtg that day as well as a separate car show elsewhere later that day. The POCI event is in Sunnyvale and the car show is in Arlington. It’s not the exclusive FGF gtg but it’s on the schedule for me now and my schedule is contracting (pun intended) as my wife is expecting in early November. Let me know what you think and I’ll run it by Tony and Greg as well. I’m open to other ideas as well. Danny
Arlington is doable, and in fact I'll be in Arlington on the 21st. I may just head there and spend the night with my friends, then have a short drive to the car show on the 22nd. Do you have more information on this show?
I also ran across this group, but haven't met up with them yet. http://www.dapa.org/
Found some shows here in Garland on Saturday, with GoodGuys going on maybe a few trophies at the local shows will be easy pickin's.
The show in Arlington is hosted by a club I belong to, Midlothian Classic Wheels. Location is Vandergriff Honda, 1100 IH-20 West, Arlington, Tx. $10.00 Entry Fee. Dash plaques to first 50. 14 Classes with 1st and 2nd place awards. Time has not been announced last time I checked but I can find out soon enough. Best guess is 11-2. This just happens to be on the weekend Hank will be in town and I thought checking out the local POCI (2nd Annual Pontiac-Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac GMC Outing, sponsored by the Lone Star Chapter/Pontiac Club. Hours from 8am to 2pm at Fast 440 Car Lot in Sunnyvale, TX at 536 Long Creek Road. Just east of Dallas on Hwy 80 past Mesquite. Take the Collins exit, stay on service road for 2 miles, it is on the right at the top of the hill. A casual gathering for all of GM's finer vehicles. No class awards, but special recognition awards will be given. $10 entry fee includes one hot lunch, desert, drink.) event might be cool too however, we're not planning to hang around until its over.
I just looked up Sunnyvale and it's REALLY close to me! I'll mark my calendar and we will plan on attending. Post more on the Sunnyvale event as you get it, such as how to pre-register, if possible. We will skip the Arlington event (That's really far for us) but will be at Sunnyvale.
These were taken in the shade, I need to pull it out into the sun!
Also, DAPA is a good group but most activity is on the north side of the metroplex which, despite my enthusiasm, is a bit far for a regular outing. Now they do host some cool events and shows, namely the Pontiac Southern Nationals and the American Performance and Classic Car Show. I attend those whenever possible.
