Any one going to Route 66 in San Bernardino in Sep. I will be there. Just hope I can get the Bird on the road in time, If I do it wont be complete. But I will be there with my 68 Nova. My spot is on 3rd St south side just east of Arrowhead. Let me know if any one is going.
Wade, I'm going to look around. If I see you and your Nova (or 'Bird) I'll say hi!
Mike
Your car not on the road either? If your car is on the road and mine dont get done in time your welcome to take my spot. It is a lot of fun The group I'm with got extra spots go we wont be real close together. not sure how wide the spaces will be You can see pics of my Bird and Nova in the link in my signature in the album's "my firebird" and "my 68 nova" so you will know what they look like
Well, it's on the road I drive her at least once a week. I guess I dont think she's ready for any kind of display yet. For sure next year. I'll send you a PM - thanks for the kind offer!
I'd be interested. I'm in Pacific Palisades and just about done restoring a red 68 matching numbers 400 convertible that now has a 467 ci Butler-built engine.

Hey Mike Dont worry about how it looks, my Bird and Nova are no show cars, and if you seen what all comes down there then you would have wished you had yours down there also. Its just a lot of fun crusing and seeing all the other cars, kinda gives you an idea of what or what not you would like to do to your car

Wade, I was reading the rules on the 66 site. It says no rust or multiple colors - I guess there is always a difference between the posted rules and real life - LOL
I know its far across 'town', but you have Quenton in Chatsworth , and one guy up in Sta Clarita, I think it was , maybe 20 minutes NE of Chatsworth? (forgot his name now)
havn't seen them on here for a while, but that could be because I havn't been on here for awhile How are you doing Bjorn, your daughter still out here going to school?
yep she`s there, nope shes out of school...came home for a year, now been back out there since almost 2 yrs....she and I drove her out there the day Rita evacuation took place here! not very good planning on my part...had car packed took fri off, had air ticket back 7 am mon...though we get her stuff out of storage on sat eve/sun am......LOL...since we found out Rita was going to hit we went up at 3.30 am , to "get out of town"...had planned to be in El Paso at night...we got to Fulshear! at 7 pm we were 40 miles west of where we live !!, ended up doing a detour to friends just north of there ,spent the night..got to Ft Stockton next evening...
long story..arrived in Studio City at 3 pm sunday...
but yes she lives in Valley Village ,just north of Studio City now....I havent been back out since that trip though , but wife has...
Glad to hear you made it ok. I take it she likes it out here. You need to plan a trip out here in Sep. one year and come to our Route 66 Rendezvous. Its 4 days of fun and cruising with around 1,500 cars
thanks Wade...yeah , I might, doubt it wiull be this spt though..very busy here...But it sounds like you guys all around LA shoul be able to get a local group going... I`m just back from Shiner ,Tx...we met up with some guys from Austin ,tx there, and one almost local guy , only 8 birds ,but still, fun trip...about 2 hr ea direction...'country roads', one of our members on this trip grew up in LA
I hope we can get something together. I will remind you next year and see if you can make it out. If I get an extra spot I will save it for you incase you can make it. I have only seen about 4 first gen's here and hundreds of Camaros and Novas
There will be a cruise at the Farmer Boys in Loma Linda. Tomorrow Sun 9-2-07 from 4pm-7pm Its off the I10 at Mountain View exit, go south, its at Redlands Blvd & Mountain View

I will be going to both of them. Anyone else want to go?
Hey all, I have been plugging around on the PY forums for a little bit and finally registered over here. Just saw this post and I am in Santa Clarita also. If you guys end up putting something together, let me know. I have a 67 convertible 400 and it would be great to hook up with some fellow birds for something.

forgot his name now , but there IS one other guy in Sta Clarita too!
Yeah, I have been a sponge lately trying to absorb as much knowledge as I can about the Firebirds as I am new to the scene and just picked up my bird about a month ago. I have been reading quite a few of your posts over on PY.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome and again, please post here if any of the So. Cal guys end up putting something together!
Welcome I'm in San Bernardino. I don't think there are very many people on here with Firebirds in So.Ca. There is another member on here Goldrag (Mike) he has a 69 vert and is in Redlands The Nova site I'm on is hosting the May 31 Cruise Night at John Force's shop. Bring your Bird down. I'm going to try and have mine put together enough to take down along with my Nova. Its a very nice show, you also get to walk through his shop. Heres more info if your interested. Click on Cruise Nights in the lower left http://www.johnforceracing.com/index.html
Dont know that I will be able to make that May 31 cruise night, but the Edelbrock show you posted in the other forum on April 27th sounds intriguing... We should all register to go and put some sort of club affiliation together on the registration form as there is a spot for it. I would assume that they would put all registered club members together at the event. It might be a good event to meet at.
Are any of you guys planning on going to that show? If so, let me know and I will see about going as well. Hell, its for charity so why not, right?
There are a few other Shows coming up, but most are out this way, not sure how far you like to drive for a show. Let me know and I will post links to them as they come up. You need to get some pics of your Bird. So we can see. Open a Photo bucket account (its free) if you don't have one all ready, and then post a link to it, like what I have in my sig.
Glad to see other SoCa members on here wanting to go to cruises
Definately let me know of any cruises you plan on attending, I may be game for some of them. Just depends on what going on that weekend and distance of course.
I put some pics up on Photobucket. But they are not that great as I took them with a camera phone for insurance purposes and the car isnt even clean in the pics.. lol.
Ill put some better ones up in the near future when I get a chance...
There is a Show coming up on May 2, 3, & 4th in Riverside. Riverside Show and Go. Its a real nice show with cruising. I will be there. You want to come down? http://showandgo.us/
I know it might be a ride for some of you IE people but I'm involved in a new 50's restaurant opening in Castaic and once were open were going to have a few parking lot shows. Were probably looking for some time in June or August. As it gets closer I can let you know. It's a nice ride if you don't mind the 5 freeway.
Hey Wade, I dont know that I want to go quite that far for a 3 day event as I would tend to want to travel back home after the day is over and that would be 3 days of driving (my car will never be a trailer queen). I know I could go one day, but I know me, and if I go one day, I will want to keep going back.. haha.. I still am seriously considering that Edelbrock Charity show in April...
Brian - I live in Saugus, so I am local to Castaic and would be very interested in anything you guys end up putting on. Definately keep us posted. I probably will be doing some of the "Route 66" shows this summer in Canyon Country and have been contemplating joining the local SCV classic car club since there is a lack of Firebirds roaming around to make a FGF type group. Have you contacted them regarding the parking lot shows you are planning? I know they have a strong showing at other local shows... Here is a link to their club website:

Just come out Sat. That will be the best day, as thats when they have the open header cruise.

If my car runs ok I wouldn't mind coming out there , just make it on a Sat. I'm on a Nova site also. So when you get all the info and date and times set let me know and I will post it on the Nova site also. A lot of them are out that way.

I may pass on the Edelbrock show and go out to Riverside for the Saturday part of this weekend then. It sounds like it will be a good time.
Rich, I will get with you once things get going. I got the bird at Bills right now getting the exhaust done. Have not contacted the club as of yet but thanks for the link.
too bad you guys are more north than me. I am in San Diego.. thinking I am gonna sell my 67...
I ran into a few here in oceanside.. there is a Marine with a black primer 68 350.. and a old man in a 68 thats all junk...
1967 firebird A.I.R. 400 or California-emissions Firebird 400 four-speed hardtop. It also came with dual factory traction bars or safe-T- track rear axle, 10 bolt posi, front power disc brakes, PS, a Muncie 4 speed, Console, Dual exhaust, dual horns, and Soft Ray Glass windshield. Red on Red car... and a hood tach, rally gauge cluster... Maybe for sale??? Its sitting in MO and I am now in CA. Anyone want to haul it my way? PM me.
1220 of them were “(WU)” 400 A.I.R. 4 barrel manual transmissions. (Engine codes in parenthesis are for cars built with AIR Injector Exhaust Control, code 616. This was an emissions reduction modification performed on the heads. They were cast with an air injection passage to reduce emissions. They were installed on Firebirds manufactured for sale in California only).
It has a 24 339 code for the dealer on it from PHS... It was from Peninsula Pontiac, 2909 Pacific Coast Highway, Torrence, CA 90505

Ok There has been a few of us talking on a for sale thread. I thought I would start this one up again, since it has been 2 years since the last post. As I stated on the other post. I am on a Nova Site also. We do a lot of stuff on there. We have a PCH Cruise in the works for around May 22 in Huntington Beach area. The Nova group is hosting the July 31st John Force Car Show in Yorba Linda. We don't limit it to just Nova's. All cars are welcome. They don't mind me with my Bird. Here is a couple of video's of the cruise we did last month to CPP. We had around 70 Nova's cruising with a few other cars. In Part Two you can see me doing a burnout in my Firebird If any one is interested in joining us let me know and I will post up more details
Let me know when your cruising. I actually think I was at the JFR cruise night last year when the Nova Club hosted it in my Charger, small world!
If they were I would have been there with my Firebird. The host club parks in the lot to the right as you come in the drive. In front of the gift shop.
You guys are a little far out for me for a typical cruise but we can still all post our So Cal events here in case anyone from either area wants to make the drive on occasion. I occasionally make a bit of a distance drive, but its usually more for shows. Otherwise, I try to keep it in the 30 mile range for cruising purposes.
Anyway, I know you said you dont do Pontiac shows, but figured I would post the link of the POCI show that is coming up just in case any other So Cal people plan on attending. My buddy and I are about 90% sure we will be going with our 67 verts. Would love to meet some other FGF owners as well.
Ok some of the Nova guys are going to be at the Hat in Upland on Central Ave this Sat the 24th http://www.thehat.com/locaupl.htm Any one who wants to come out is welcome. Was thinking around 6pm
Ok Anyone on here going to Route 66 Rendezvous in San Bernardino, Ca Sept. 16-19? I will be there, so if anyone goes look for my green 69 Bird and stop by and say hello. http://www.route-66.org/
Wish you guys werent so far inland.. One of these days I will make it to something out that way and maybe meet up with you inland empire guys.. lol
In the meantime, I will be going the other direction on August 29th to the Pontiac show at Ventura Harbor. Anyone else going to make this one? I went last year, its a great show and is right on the water with plenty to do!
Well it looks like it has been over a year since anyone posted here! It would be nice to maybe start a thread and find as many of the so cal guys with birds as we can. even if we do not have cars ready maybe we can set a day to meet, maybe at Cars and Coffee in Irvine on a Saturday morning and swap Bird stories, talk about our experiences and maybe work some parts deals
Its a nice venue and lots to see in the mornings!1

Cpp is having their annual open house again this year on Mar 17th for any Classic car or truck. They will have food and raffle prizes. Last year I did the Nova and Truck one. Very nice turn out. Check out the link for more info, pics, and video from last year. You also need to register if your going.
