I am in need of the anchor plate and retainer between the lock and bird bezel for a 69 bird.anyone have them email me plz gearhead391@yahoo.com
Isn't that piece attached to the lock? If not, I guess I am not understanding what piece you are looking for. Pic?
It is part 3 and 4 in diagram

Part 3 is a anchor plate.it is plactic or rubber?,and part 4 is a metal retainer
Interesting. I pulled my whole lock assy off a while back ago to do restro but I never had those two parts on my lock assembly and it fits and works perfertly. Hell, I don't even have item number 2 on mine. My tail panel is flat and the bird sits flush with it. I am wondering if something change somewhere in 69 as I have a very early 69 (Nov or Dec 68) and thinking maybe they changed it after that? Sorry I cant be of more help then that.

I don't think mine has 2,3 or 4 unless 2 is a gasket.II have the setup Bill shows the picture of. I have an extra latch assembly I can look at tomorrow.
PS. Bill, how was the grand canyon?

Maybe your right and it is something that is welded onto the back of the original tail panel that we just don't pay much attention to. I don't know, my car is in the body shop right now so I cant take a look for you, but if I get over there I will pop the trunk and take a pic of the inside of the tail panel for you.
Hi guys, here is a pic of my inside trunk lock. If you look at the tail panel you will see a spacer for the lock. Hope that helps Thanks Jim

took ours apart and yup there is another 2 parts as jim showed in his pic. The 2 parts are a combo, a housing Metal piece in a rectangle shape with a foam gasket that fits inside of it. It was stuck to the tailpanel when I took it apart. if you had to, it could be made.

the part in the middle

This was an interesting adventure and now a word of caution to those that may be replaceing thier tailpanel.

The pic I took is the parts off the car as I disassembled it to look at it. The lock and the bezel came right out but, the part we are talking about stayed on the tail panel. as described above, metal with foam inserted. It was stuck on the tailpanel, I had to forcefully twist it to get it to "snap" off of the metal. Once removed, I could see that the foam had just got that sticky to almost appear that it was part of the tailpanel.

I can invision it getting thrown out with a tailpanel replacement.

As always, good info to know!!

Now you've got me scared. So I went down to the body shop where my tail panel is also being replaced with a repop, hoping that the original had not already been thrown away. It was in several pieces behind the building. When I found the center piece you could see the shape of where the part in question had been. I guess it's like ordy said, it's just something we just don't pay attention to. Now just hoping it's still with the lock and my other parts!
Can't remember. confused
