Gathering & Use of Information

If you browse First Generation Firebird’s website, you do so anonymously. We don’t collect personal information — including your email address from your web visits. We do log your IP address (the Internet address of your computer) to give us an idea of which parts of our website you visit; but, we do not link your IP address to anything personally identifiable which means we have no way to trace the IP address to anything personally identifiable. One exception for the IP address, POSTING a message on the Classified Bulletin Board does publish your IP address in each message to help detour illegal or abusive behavior in that forum. Therefor, the messages posted on the Classified Bulletin Board DOES link your IP address to something personally identifiable.

The only other information automatically provided to us is the type of computer and operating system you are using; your browser supplies us with this information. We do not care who you are but only what sections you are visiting on our web site.

First Generation Firebird does not require personal information from visitors in order to gain access to our (FirstGenFirebird.org, OakMediaCreations.com, and myg.info) web site. Certain portions of our website (Interactive Databases) require User ID and Password to gain access. This site collects no personally identifying information about individuals except when specifically and knowingly provided by such individuals.

Information provided by individuals from our web forms is used to improve our web site’s content, answer questions, or perform research. Private information (e-mail addresses, V.I.N. information, body tag information, home addresses, etc.. ) entered into our web forms (Contact Page, Report a Problem Page, VIN Analyzer, Body Tag Analyzer, Send Me Page, Owners Pages, Classified Bulletin Board) will not be distributed or published unless noted on those pages or required by law.

In some instances, users wishing to receive future e-mailings from us as well as e-mailings from other entertainment companies will be asked to opt-in on line. The personal information provided by users who chose to opt-in for these mailings will be used by us for purposes of providing mailings. All e-mail mailings from us or from the third parties that have received the lists from us will provide a way for users who receive those mailings to request that their names be taken off mailing lists and have future mailings cease.

Users should be aware that when they voluntarily disclose personal information (e.g., user name, e-mail address, ect…) on the mailing lists’ messages, published web pages, bulletin boards, and in the chat areas, that information can be collected and used by others and may result in unsolicited messages from other posters or parties. Thou this practice can not be monitored, it is considered an infringement on First Generation Firebird’s copyrights and the privacy rights of our users.

Children under the age of 13 or as defined by local regulations should ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to us or anyone else over the Internet. We have areas where children participation is restricted for an attempt to prevent potential risks of personally identifiable information being made public.

Information Tracking

First Generation Firebird uses an outside service, our web provider, to track the total number of visitors to each area of our web site. Compiled in an aggregate form, this information shows us which areas visitors enjoy most, and allows us to update and improve site content. Personally identifiable information is not extracted in this process.

“Cookies”

Our Classified Bulletin Board uses cookies to store the following information: the last time you logged in, your username and password, and your preferred “topic view”, if you set it in the preferences. These cookies are stored on YOUR browser. Cookies are not used to track your movement or perform any function other than to enhance your use of the bulletin board. If your browser does not support cookies, or you have not enabled cookies on your browser, many of these time-saving features will not work properly. Also, you need to have cookies enabled in your browser if you want to enter a private forum.

You may delete all cookies set in our Classified Bulletin Board forum by visiting the “preferences” area of the forum and selecting the “delete cookies” link.

Accuracy and Security

Questions regarding our privacy policy, the accuracy of your personal information or the use of the information collected should be directed via e-mail to privacypolicy@firstgenfirebird.org.

We use our best efforts to ensure the security of personal information submitted by users. When collecting credit card information for on-line purchases, we offer secured-server transactions that encrypt your information in transit to thwart someone from intercepting it and misusing it. When we collect other information from our users, it is stored in an area where the general public does not have access to it.
