1968 Heavyweight Ad

Firebird Ad Firebird Ad

You see it on the right. Our 400. Heavyweight of Pontiac’s Magnificent Five Firebirds for 1968.

Along with its heavy-duty but newly obliging supension (asym-

metrically mounted multiple leaf rear springs and wide-ovals) there’s a heavy-duty 3-speed with Hurst shifter. All standard. And augmented by a 330-hp, 400-cu.-in. V-8

with 430 ft.lbs. of torque and Quadrajet. Or you can select the new 335-hp H.O. engine, or a 335-hp Ram Air with functional scoops.

But don’t think we’d surround

you with all that exuberance and neglect elegance. Any Firebird can be ordered with knitted (just like mom used to make) vinyl upholstery. And picture windows (no

side vents), carpeting, and simulated wood grain styling on dash are standard. And with every Firebird you get GM’s many safety features. Like seat belts, safety armrests, and

side-mounted marker lights.

Now, any guess why we decided to call them the Magnificent Five – again?
