STANDARD BODY FEATURES

New Center Body Side Molding – Catalina, Executive (except Safari Station Wagons) and Bonneville. These narrow, full-length body side moldings are not only decorative, but they protect body sheet metal as well. A special mar-resistant vinyl insert, extending the full length of the molding, protects doors and body sides against minor bumps caused by opening doors. The vinyl insert is color-keyed in 5 colors to go with exterior body paint.

Energy Absorbing Instrument Panel. Standard on all Pontiac series, this panel, features a thick, full-width panel pad, contoured knobs and levers and labeled instrument control switches. The 1968 Catalina, Executive, Bonneville and Grand Prix panels feature a new, full-width conter panel pad in
|

addition to the upper pad. Additionally, all 1968 series will have the vehicle identification number stamped on a special plate, which is positioned on top of the instrument panel in the left front corner. The number will face forward for convenient viewing through the windshield.

Energy Absorbing Steering Column and Steering Wheel. The safety-engineered, energy absorbing steering column and 3-spoke steering wheel remain standard for all 1968 series. The steering column jacket,
|
|
containing shift tube and steering shaft assembly, acts as a controlled-rate shock absorber. On severe impact, the assembly can telescope, shortening the column length up to 8 1/4 inches.

|
Safety Armrests. These specially constructed armrests, of energy absorbing design, are standard on all 1968 series. The crushable armrests are designed to collapse under calculated impact.
