Outside Mirrors for 1968

Short answer: In 1968 the remote mirror was a left-side-only option (LH remote-control OSRV mirror, option code 424). Pontiac did not offer a matching RH “dummy” passenger mirror that year, unlike some earlier years. Both circular and rectangular styles were offered.

Notes: Per the Firebird Red Book (Peter Sessler), the remote mirror was offered only on the driver’s side. If a passenger mirror was added, it would match the rectangular shape. Because there was no factory RH match, some owners find a non-remote RH mirror (e.g., from a junkyard — the same mirror without the cable) to create a balanced look.
