400 Front Bumper Emblem for 1967-1968

Short answer: The correct original front-bumper “400” emblem for the 1967–68 Firebird is a molded hard-rubber part (with an internal steel reinforcement that the studs attach to — no metal is visible). The metal “Crest” emblem some catalogs supply was only used on certain full-size Pontiacs and Grand Prix, not the Firebird.

The correct emblem is only available as a reproduction. Current quality is reportedly okay (early repros fit poorly). One member’s Ames repro looked very good installed; the only shortfall is that the original had extruded rubber around the studs for a snug fit while the repro does not — so you center it by eye, then tighten it down.
