PONTIAC NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY (p-4)

There are no warranties, expressed or implied, made by any authorized Pontiac Dealer or Pontiac Motor Division, General Motors Corporation, on new 1968 Model Pontiac passenger cars or passenger car chassis except the manufacturer’s warranty against defects in material and workmanship set out below:

Pontiac Motor Division, General Motors Corporation, as manufacturer (herein referred to as Pontiac) warrants to the Warranted Owner only (as herein defined) each Vehicle (as herein defined) to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service during the time and mileage limits and subject to all other provisions and limitations hereinafter set forth.

VEHICLE

For purposes of the Warranty, the term “Vehicle” means each new and unused 1968 Model Pontiac passenger car and passenger car chassis including all equipment and accessories thereon (except tires), manufactured or supplied by Pontiac.

TIME AND MILEAGE LIMITS

24 months/24,000 miles—This Warranty applies to the entire Vehicle (except tires) for 24 months after the date it is placed in use by the first Warranted Owner or until it is driven for 24,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

5 years/50,000 miles—This Warranty further applies to the Vehicle’s power train components (specifically described as the cylinder block and head and all internal engine parts, water pump, intake manifold, transmission case and all internal parts, torque converter, propeller shaft and universal joints, rear axle, differential, and axle shafts), the front and rear suspension components (except shock absorbers), the steering gear, the steering pump and steering linkage and the wheels and wheel bearings for 5 years after the date it is placed in use by the first Warranted Owner or until it is driven for 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

WARRANTED OWNER

For purposes of this Warranty, the term “Warranted Owner” means the owner of the Vehicle who holds such Vehicle for use and not for resale, who is registered as a Warranted Owner with Pontiac and possesses a Protect-O-Plate issued by Pontiac in owner’s name for such Vehicle.

Any authorized Pontiac Dealer selling a new and unused Vehicle will register the first owner thereof with Pontiac as first Warranted Owner. The first Warranted Owner shall be entitled to all the benefits of the 24 months/24,000 mile and 5 year/50,000 mile provisions of this Warranty without further registration with Pontiac.

Any subsequent Vehicle owner may become a Warranted Owner during the 24 month/24,000 mile time and mileage limits of this Warranty, by submitting to Pontiac through an authorized Pontiac Dealer a properly executed Transfer of Warranty form together with the former Warranted Owner’s Protect-O-Plate within 30 days or 1,000 miles usage following the date of acquisition of the Vehicle by the subsequent Vehicle owner. If the Vehicle is still within the 24 month/24,000 mile time and mileage limits of this Warranty and there is satisfactory evidence that the maintenance services required under this Warranty have been performed on the Vehicle, Pontiac will register the Vehicle owner as the Warranted Owner and the authorized Dealer, acting for Pontiac and at a nominal charge not exceeding $2.00, will issue a new Protect-O-Plate for insertion in the Owner Protection Plan booklet to identify that person as a Warranted Owner for the unexpired portion of the 24 month/24,000 mile time and mileage limits of this Warranty. If instead, the applicant submits a properly executed 5 year/50,000 mile Warranty Application form, the authorized Dealer, acting for Pontiac and at a total charge not exceeding $25.00, will issue a new Protect-O-Plate to identify that person as a Warranted Owner for the unexpired portion of the 24 month/24,000 mile and the 5 year/50,000 mile time and mileage limits of this Warranty.

Upon the expiration of the 24 month/24,000 mile time and mileage limits of this Warranty, the then Warranted Owner shall cease being a Warranted Owner unless he shall previously have been issued a new Protect-O-Plate identifying him as a 5 year/50,000 mile Warranted Owner. Upon the expiration of the 24 month/24,000 mile time and mileage limits of this Warranty, however, the then Warranted Owner may submit through an authorized Pontiac Dealer a properly executed 5 year/50,000 mile Warranty Application form to Pontiac within 30 days or 1,000 miles from the date of expiration of the 24 month/24,000 mile time and mileage limits of this Warranty. If there is satisfactory evidence that maintenance services required under this Warranty have been performed on the Vehicle, Pontiac will re-register the owner as the Warranted Owner.
