OPTIONAL FLOOR CONSOLES (Code 472)*

Optional Console

The optional, extra-cost floor console (standard in the Grand Prix with Strato-bucket front seats) adds a touch of lively sportiness to Pontiac interiors. Additionally, the console compartment provides a generous amount of storage space for personal belongings. Consoles are available only with bucket front seats and floor-mounted shift, and each varies in design, depending on series and type of transmission specified.

Firebird Console

Console for All Firebird Models. Equipped with Automatic Transmission and Floor-mounted Shift. Features rich, burl grain, vinyl applique top panel and storage compartment. A push-bar release, located on top of the shift lever, prevents accidental selection of Park, Reverse or Low. (See chart on page N-1 for console availability.)

LeMans and GTO Consoles

Console for LeMans and GTO Models Equipped with 3- or 4-speed Manual Transmission and Floor-mounted Shift. Top panel is finished in handsome, padded Morrokide to match upholstery. The shift pattern appears on top of the shift knob for added convenience. Fully illuminated storage compartment opens from driver’s side. (See chart on page N-1 for console availability.)

Bonneville and Grand Prix Consoles

Console for Bonneville and Grand Prix Equipped with Turbo Hydra-Matic Transmission and Floor-mounted Shift. Dark, burl grain textured top panel coordinates the luxury interior styling theme. Forward portion of console extends upward to join the lower edge of the instrument panel. Pull-out type ashtray is located at the extreme upper end. Transmission quadrant is conveniently located on the driver’s side. (See chart on page N-1 for console availability.)

GTO Consoles

Console for GTO Equipped with Turbo Hydra-Matic Transmission and Floor-mounted Shift. Features versatile “Hurst-Campbell Dual-Gate Shift” linkage. This feature enables the driver to select either fully automatic or manual shifting, depending on personal taste. A special lockout prevents manual overshifting and limits shift pattern to one range at a time. Handsome walnut grain appearance finish decorates the transmission console trim plate. A convenient storage compartment is an additional feature. (See chart on page N-1 for console availability.)

*Floor consoles are available only with bucket front seats and floor-mounted shift. A console is required with floor-mounted automatic or Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission.
