V-8 Into a 6-Cylinder Compartment

Short answer: Using all the bracketry from the 326, a 400 bolts right in — no extra brackets needed (the 326, 389, 400, 428, and 455 all interchange). The only possible hangup is a 1975-or-later block, where some engines don’t have all the motor-mount holes tapped (or present) — 1970+ blocks were cast with five holes per side for early or late chassis. New motor mounts are a good idea after 30+ years, and don’t mix your 1967 accessories/brackets with later parts (pulley-alignment problems).
