Custom Emblem
Short answer: A loose “Custom” emblem could have come from several locations — the fastener type tells you which. Based on the fastener count, a rocker-panel location is most likely. It may have been part of a special paint package (Pink Mist), which shows on the body tag as paint code “special.”
Emblem locations and their fasteners:
- Hood (“Overhead Cam”): 8 × #9420185 nuts
- Front fender (“Firebird”): 6 × #9420621 nuts
- Front grille (“Pontiac”): 2 × #9789188 brackets and 2 × #9785896 retainers (least likely)
- Trunk (“400”): 2 × #9421827 nuts
- Rocker panel (“Sprint”): 4 × #9420621 nuts (most likely)
