Rear Speaker Package Tray
Short answer: No — a mesh package tray with no grilles is not correct for 1967–69 (that’s a 1970-and-up thing); that’s vendors dictating “correct.” Factory rear speakers used the cardboard tray with speaker-shaped openings cut from underneath, covered by GM speaker grilles.
Don’t try to save a 30-year-old sun-faded, brittle tray. To route wiring rearward, pull the rocker scuff plates (or use a fish tape under the carpet, or run it through the console). Stereo can use one pair of wires (grounding speakers at the rear shelf), but shielded pairs per channel sound better.
