Removing Struts Problem
Short answer: Normally you rotate the shock so its flats line up with the flats in the lower control-arm opening, pop the clip nuts off the bottom, and it passes right through — a standard shock always fits that hole.
If yours has “road leveler” shocks with helper springs over them, that’s the snag: start the spring end through the control-arm opening and rotate the whole helper spring through, or release the C-clip at the top holding the helper-spring perch halves and remove the shock without the spring (sometimes easiest to cut the helper spring apart in place).
