This is the second go around for this car. I guess the buyer thought twice about his winning bid.
I looked this over the first time and had to challenge his description. He states the car was sold in California without emission controls (smog pump). Well, as we know CA was the first state to put laws into effect for lowered tail pipe gasses in ’67. So why did it get shipped from Lordstown, OH to CA without the smog controls?
In doing some serious research and asking the Poncho guru’s I found the reason. It’s because it has a manual trans. In CA, automatic trans cars received the pollution equipment, manual trans cars did not until the ’70 model year. Then they all got under the regulation.
It’s a very nice resto, and I didn’t see where the last auction price landed. But I’ll bet he’s shoot’n for the stars to get his investment back. But that’s ok, I hope he get’s it.
