I agree, but also disagree. Yes it had only one "original" engine. Part number 123, date code XYZ, the block stamp makes it "the" original engine but the stamp dosn't change part #123, and date code XYZ makes it the correct part for that car and makes it numbers correct, but the stamp does make it matching number correct. So any 123-XYZ is the correct part.
The re-stamping is a personal thing I guess. I'm ok with it as long as casting and date codes are correct, it still is the correct part. But I'm not really into all matching number stuff anymore. It's a old car, things break and wear out. Especially if it gets used like they should. Stamping the wrong block is definitly wrong, but easy to spot.
