Yep, still need the block casting code and date code to narrow the block code down, I was just assuming from the head dates. But I should know what to assume does...
Later model blue engine paint could be a hint, but mine was painted that color and is still original (except carb), probably a rebuild at some point. I have seen pics of others painting engines "Pontiac Blue" not the earlier color.
