The caveman way that I did it after my 67 setting for 18 years was to hook one end of a u-bolt (yes I used the old nasty one from my early 70's exhaust), under the lip of the wiper arm on the shaft, just opposite the blade arm. while holding onto the other half of the u-bolt..say a small prayer and tug parallel to the actual spined shaft coming from the gearbox. The positioning of the end of the u-bolt under the lip couneracts the torque of the blade spring...no bind...pops off! The little spring clip that is supposed to hold the thing on gives up, at least mine did...and are no worse for the wear.
