I wonder how well the rotary valves seal, especially since the exhaust travels through the valve and will heat it up noticably. There were quite a few claims about improvements that just don't make sense considering the basic engine operates the same once the valves are closed. The desmodromic valve system doesn't have much for friction either but hasn't "saved the planet" yet.
Not too many people harp on the "running out of oil" these days. I guess after two hundred years of saying that, this scare tactic is losing its bite.
