I have finally got back to the 'bird after having an affair with a 924 and a MGB. So I am trying to get the floor boards ready to replace, but I have found something a bit unexpected. I removed the seat support, and tried to dry fit the half pan, and found it to be too far forward. Well, I assumed it to be just too much metal and it was sitting upward. A bit of trim, and it is still too far forward (ie the half pan appears to be too long). I set the front of the pan on the floor, and it fits great, but the back sits on the rear passenger seat by about 2". After some inspection I realized there is a support going from the rear seat area to the front floor pan. It is a simple folded sheet metal peice, but it will have to be cut out. I had assumed that would be were I needed to weld the pan too, but it is not so. What I am asking is, however, is this a piece just for convertibles? on pics I found online of others putting in new floors they do not show it. I found it listed in Goodmark, but no were else. It is a simple piece, and I will probably fab it up myself anyway.
Also who is the best supplier for sheet metal? I need to get new inner rockers, and a rear seat floor.
Thanks,
Paul.
