It's not very often I get a chance to meet people of importance. Today, I pulled into the parking lot at work as I do five times a week. But today there was a crowd all standing around the guard shack, our point of entry/exit from the hub.
Suit & ties and our Local 413 Union officers were greeting the rank and file as they were entering and leaving. I was running just a little behind, and I didn't have any Union business or grips, so I made a bee line for the door. Mark, one of the Local's business agents said; "Hey Tom, I'd like you to meet someone." So I took the minute to greet whoever Mark wanted me ta say hello to. Well I'll be, it was our International Teamster President, James Hoffa.
I chatted with the Prez for a couple of minutes when our Governor Ted Strickland showed up. So I got to make a little small talk with the Gov. Like I said, it's a rare occasion for me to meet anyone in the public eye. So I guess it was my time to shake hands with some folks of stature. So what if I was a few minutes late for work.
I didn't have the heart to tell'em I was voting for Joe Walsh.
