To check steering box (If all other steering parts are tight)just take steering wheel lightly in hand and rock it back and forth while watching the front wheel. The wheel should move at the same time as the steering wheel.
If there is play you addjust the box by the allen headed screw on top of the box. Lossen the lock nut and turn allen screw in a little then check steering again.

Be carefull not to go to far. It will cause a binding in the steering wheel if you do.
