I ordered the system with the x-pipe from R.A.R.E......
I ordered the whole 2.5" system for my 68 convertible.
As a others have mentioned in this thread, they messed up and sent a pair of connecting pipes that weren't correct. They weren't flared at the ends. I called and they sent new pipes. But then the whole system doesn't want to fit together right, even with the new pipes they've sent.
I am in the midst of totally rebuilding the car. I spoke to them about it and they basically said that there would be some measuring and cutting required to fit. I "thought" I was buying a bolt on system.
So I rigged up a temporary system just to get my engine fired up and running. I did use the new LB manifolds and down pipes, but I slipped some new glass packs & down turned pipes on and lightly clamped them.
And there is not much clearance between the left manifold and the starter. If the starter ever needs replacing, the exhaust will have to come off.
I plan on using the complete system, and can keep you posted. But obviously I will have to locate a knowledgeable muffler shop to be installed. I am sure it will be costly. Nobody wants to piece together someone else's mess.
So my opinion, the Long Branch manifolds they sell are great quality. But I won't be buying anything other than that from them again. I thought the system was over-priced in the first place. But since it was a complete system for my car, I thought it would be designed to bolt right on.
A good muffler shop can build a system out of stock pipe, and it should be less than what they are charging at R.A.R.E.....
