The key to make the paint last a little longer, is the clean & prep them properly. THEN, when you paint them, paint the exhaust ports with a VERY light dusting ONLY. First coat to where you can hardly see any paint on them at all. paint more on the rest of the heads... come back to the exhaust ports and do another VERY light dusting only. Let it tack up and repeat this about 5-6 times until you have JUST enough paint on them to cover the bare metal and stop!
I've had mine painted for almost 9 years now and while the center ports have changed color, it's not flaking or totally burnt off yet. I'll be pulling the motor this winter to fix a rear main seal leak and will repaint & detail the engine bay again...
