"Distracted by a low flying pelican"? Yeah, right, that wing doesn't deploy until 138 mph (220 kph). He never hit the brakes, either, because the wing will go to 60 degrees at 200 kph to act as an air brake..

Sorry, but if he hit the water at well over 100 mph, he is not walking away from it. Salt water does very bad things to electronic systems. Who knows how it will initially react.
