Hey guys, Happy 2010! I took a sanity break from cars for awhile, and am getting back to it. Bought this 67 400/4spd a few years back, had a Holley double pumper on it, ran terrible. Found a stock manifold; and a Qjet from a 69 400/4spd. Ran good, except the choke assembly (aftermarket for 67) didn't hook up with the 69 carb. Few more vacuum ports on the 69, as well as a different throttle arm. Anyway, it ran good, but I got tired of having no choke.
Found on ebay a service replacement rebuilt Qjet with no numbers, supposedly the same as a 7027273, which I refuse to spend $1200.00 on.
So, to the questions: 1. How do you connect the choke linkage? I'm not even sure I got the right one from the supplier, but the arm is way too long, and doesn't have a clip like my 67 327 Camaro 2. There are only 2 vacuum ports on this carb, one big one on the passenger's side front, and a small one on the driver's side front. At idle, the smaller port (about the same size as the distributor advance) pulls no vacuum. The larger port does, but again it's adifferent diameter from the dist. advance line. 3. Throttle return spring. What bolts onto the manifold to hold the spring? I rigged something up, but was wondering if anyone has the right part(s) or could point me to the aftermarket. Thanks!
Tom
