I've never had much success keeping any paint on the center exhaust ports. I've tried the Hirch stuff. Didn't seem any better that the local stuff. I've tried light dusting a couple of coats. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference as far as my motor goes. I've given up trying. The dupicolor stuff is as good as any other you can find. At $4 a can you can afford to hit it before every show.
It's all in the prep and the light coats. Just enough to where you can almost see the bare metal... Here is a shot I just took (sorry the lens started to fog) but this is after 9 years of use about 2,000-3,000 miles a year (some more some less) Plan to pull the motor and re-detail everything this year so I'll be repainting both motors soon myself.
In answer to the original question, Duplicolor is the best bang for the buck, inexpensive and easy to find most anywhere. I still feel Hursch is the best I've found to date and I've tried most of them. Just my experience.
