after 6-8 months when your new springs start sagging, you know what to do.....get early 80s Volvo 240 inner hood hinge springs and 'fish them in' , inside the GM ones.
to save yourself the cost of the new springs , you can do that now....
dont ask how I know....
I did this (thanks to Bjorn) and it works great. Took me about 5 minutes to find them at a u-pull it, cost a couple of bucks.
