Your 8.2 is stronger than the Chevy rear, believe it or not. You can get an aftermarket carrier to build what ever ratio you want. Auburn & Eaton would be good choices to go with, axles would work from old rear, but if you go through the trouble of building a rear, may as well put better axles in.
