I bought a full set from Diamondback Tire for my LeMans (pics can be seen on my link below). They basically can take any radial brand/size and cut the outter sidewall making it smooth. Then, they apply a red rubber ring through a vulcanizing process (gluing & heating) to the outter sidewall. This process is the only process known to last the entire legnth of the tire itself. So you end up with a modern day, steel belted radial with the look of old school/stock look.
As for size, you will hear every thing from stock to super huge. my recommendation is not to vary too much from original size. This is also dependant upon your suspension. If your ride height is close to stock, I wouldn't go much more than stock size. With my last set of BFG on my Bird, I went 225/70/15 (15" Rally II's) and I wish I had only gone with 205/70/15 as they did rub at full turn of the wheel.
Personally, I'd rather not have my new tires rub than to have them "look cool" and fill up the wheel well. Anyway, when I ordered my red lines from Diamondback, I had a choice of BFG or Coopers. The Coopers were $25 (per tire) less, same warranty and were made in USA. I am VERY happy with them. I now have just over 10k miles on them and they are perfect. Having the red line solid-thru color, they clean up pefectly and in the event you scuff them (ouch) you will still have a red line. Unless of course your wife is driving and she scuffs the red lines right off! Just a joke ladies, no hard feelings...
