It depends on which transmission the 69 has. A 1969 with the 2-speed auto should have the T-handle (same style as were used on 1967-68 Firebirds, I think).
A 1969 with TH350 or TH400 should have the round simulated wood knob. The 1969 TH350/TH400 Firebirds also have "Rally sports speed shift", where you manually can shift one step at a time by holding the lever to the right.
