Some like those cars, some don't. Personally, I love them! I think they're one of the most beautiful Pontiacs ever made. Unique silver leather interior, embroidered birds on seatbacks, silver carpet, oversized hood bird, two-tone paint, cool looking wheels.
The down side is that they're all the same. Seen one, you've seen them all. Other than the engine choice (400/4-speed or 403/auto), they were all equipped the same.
There were also a ton of these things stashed away by collectors back in 1979. There seems to be 2 or 3 a year popping up now at auctions, all with less than 100 miles on the odometer. I remember when one sold for the unheard of price of $20K about 10 years ago (Special Edition and 10th Anniversary cars were about $12K at the time). The new owner tried for a few years trying to flip it. 5 years later it sold for $23K.
Now in 2011, one just sold (40 miles on the odometer) for $59K at Mecum.
