Today was the day for the first drive of the '68 (Father's Day for Dad's car!)
Considering this project has been underway for a few years, with parts spread hither and yon while the shell was blasted and painted, while the engine and trans were overhauled, and while I plugged away at the interior, wiring, and mechanicals, I have to say it was an amazing feeling to start the car, put it in reverse, back it out, drive down the driveway, on the street to a sidestreet, then around and back, I was amazed and very pleased that EVERYTHING major worked exactly as it should, considering that there was not one single piece of the car that was not torn off, torn apart, rebuilt, refinished, and reinstalled. The car felt like brand new, and had plenty of power. Even the alignment was fine!
There was still no windshield but I did bolt in the driver's seat for safety. My punchlist is down to about 25 items and every day brings me an item or two closer to completion.
Video I've already ironed out little things like the reverse light switch.
