$35000.00 so far in body and paint at a local custom body work shop called SLC Kustoms. Body and paint are flawless. The rest is up to us. (Dad and I) The big challenge so far is finding good quality parts, the guys at PY forums are a huge help with most everything from technical advice to finding un-obtainable parts. My dad is buying most of the GTO parts from Another Madly Expensive Supplier as they all are, and most things are okay. It has been challenging trying to be patient with the process and it gets maddening to do things two or three times before you are happy with what you have. We had a pristine, albeit brittle dash that we coated several times with baby-oil and plastic wrap over a six month period and we were extremely careful with it, knowing it was fragile, we re-installed it into the car, just him and I and after it was bolted in we noticed a small round hole in the top surface, like we set it on a bolt or nut or something, nice round cracked hole about the size of a dime. Argh! Back out came the dash and a core was located and sent to Dash Specialist in Oregon. It's also funny how a-lot of things seem to cost a thousand dollars, exhaust, tires & wheels, front disc brakes, seat covers and door panels, a/c system restoration, seat belt restoration and so on. For a while, it seemed like Dad was spending a grand a week plus the 3 to 5 grand a month to the body shop, I'm sure we paid a few of their payrolls! The time spent with Dad is priceless, he is a patient and meticulous guy (engineer) and I am a get er done kind of a guy. Sometimes we butt heads, he usually prevails, says I can’t let the paint dry. I am just excited to get going on Buffy and we wont touch her until the Goat is done.
