Finally...knew I could not have been the only CBer nerd out there. We use to communicate over cb back in the late 70's. 1st social network.
Sunspots activity on the sun would play havoc with radio signals on earth. Signals would "skip" off the atmosphere and come down virtually anywhere in the world. Some I heard were as far away as Australia. Most of the signals we could respond to were in north america. CB's are designed to only work in a 10-20 mi range so it was pretty cool to talk to another guy 2000 mi away.
In most cases you could here the other guy but he could not copy you. When ever we did get confirmation we would exchange addresses and send each other a post card. Some guys had specially made up cards based on their CB handle.
I will dig around to see if I can find some cards.
