Unless you are restoring your car for numbers matching concours level resto it's almost pointless. Now, it might be worth tracking it down and getting to have in the event you go to sell the car down the road to a potential "numbers matching" type buyer, but other than that the 2-speed may be bulletproof for the racers but it is an absolute DOG on the street!
My 67 LeMans had it's original 2-speed in it when I bought the car with only 54k orig miles on it. I couldn't wait to pull that two speed out (slow and slower) and drop my 4-speed in! You will be greatly disappointed if you go back to that 2-speed if you think you are going to pick up any performance of any kind and your mileage as noted above, well as stated, 3 speeds are better than 2!
