You should try it , the type of plastics used on interiors have a tendency to sweat so that even most glues wont stick, including epoxys and and even fiber glass resins will just sit on top of the plastic. The plastic adhesion promoter it kinda like a self etching primer for these plastics. It gives the paint something to grab onto. Ive heard that lacquer paint works pretty good as the thiner is actually a solvent based paint unlike enamels.
What color are going to and from ? If it was me doing this . i would go for the adhesion promotor , followed by a light coat and color of lacquer primer(white, light gray). Then paint with light coats of lacquer based paint, that should hold.
